KIEV, Dec. 14 – Ukraine's desire to revise its liabilities as a part of its liabilities to the World Trade Organization in line with Article XXVIII of the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade is absolutely legal and cannot be an obstacle for the political associations and economic integration with the European Union, according to Valeriy Piatnytsky the Ukrainian government's envoy for European integration.
"The dialog on Article XXVIII will be continued. There are no grounds for panic – a normal working process is underway," the press service of the government said, citing Piatnytsky commenting on the proposal of the European Union to Ukraine not to revise the tariffs.
Piatnytsky said that in its conclusions the European Union expressed hope that Ukraine will refuse the protective measures and the revision of the imports tariffs, although the EU do not require to do this in a mandatory manner.
