MOSCOW, July 19 – A working group involving experts from Russia, Ukraine and Kazakhstan should decide the fate of the Dnepr project for the use of converted RS-20 heavy intercontinental ballistic missiles (Satan, under Western classification) in space launch programs, said Vladimir Popovkin, chief of the Russian federal space agency Roscosmos.
"We need to resolve this situation before September 1, and decide whether this project will be continued," Popovkin said when asked about the fate of the Dnepr project.
