KIEV, July 2 - Ukraine’s largest privately-owned coalmining and power generating company, DTEK, acquired three coal mines and a coal processing plant in Russia, the company said in a statement Monday.
The overall coal reserves of the acquired mines, which are located in the Rostov region of Russia, is estimated at 136 million metric tons. The mines produced about 500,000 mt of coal in 2011, but DTEK plans to boost output to 2 million mt annually, the company said.
