KIEV, June 15 - Ukraine will probably impose higher duties on imports of gasoline and diesel fuel in order to restart domestic oil refineries, Prime Minister Mykola Azarov said Friday.
But Ukraine will have to walk a fine line because the country is a member of the World Trade Organization and has a free trade agreement with Russia, he said.
“The task is not easy,” Azarov told reporters. “First, we are a member of the WTO. Second, we have free trade agreements. And, third, the move to hike the duties may lead to a temporary increase in domestic gasoline prices.”
