KIEV, April 2 – The United States has provided $67.5 million for the construction of a nuclear facility at Kharkiv Institute of Physics and Technology in exchange for Ukraine's giving up the use of highly enriched uranium.
According to the Dzerkalo Tyzhnia newspaper (ZN.UA), associate member of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Ivan Karnaukhov, who heads the project for the creation of a nuclear facility, not all of the necessary contracts for the project have been concluded, although a memorandum on nuclear safety between the governments of Ukraine and the U.S. stated that this should be done by March.
