MOSCOW, March 4 — Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin, who exit polls show was likely to win the Sunday presidential election in Russia, said he will seek to rebuild a stronger alliance within the Commonwealth of Independent States.

Ukrainian politicians expressed fears that Putin’s election would mean that Ukraine will face more economic and political pressure during the next six years.

“The CIS is an absolute priority,” Putin said at a rally after the election on Sunday.
