KIEV, March 1 - Ukraine will phase out massive use of natural gas if it fails to persuade Russia to lower natural gas prices significantly, Prime Minister Mykola Azarov said Thursday.

He said it was a “matter of life and death” for Ukraine to develop alternative sources of energy after two-year talks with Russia on gas prices have made little progress.
