KIEV, Feb. 29 - President Viktor Yanukovych appointed Yuriy Kolobov, the first deputy governor of the National Bank of Ukraine, a loyalist, as finance minister, further strengthening his personal control over the government.
Kolobov, like Serhiy Arbuzov, the governor of the NBU, and a number of other government officials, is thought to be closely associated with Oleksandr Yanukovych, the president’s son, whose personal power has been rapidly increasing.
