KIEV, Feb. 14 – A new waste battery recycling plant of a large Ukrainian producer of accumulator batteries, Westa Corporation, - RekS (Lead Recuperation) with a production capacity of 40,000 tons (three million batteries) per year will start operating in May, said Oleksandr Vilkul, the head of Dnipropetrovsk regional administration.

"The creation of a modern [plant for] waste-free recycling of waste batteries is beneficial for our regions in the economic and ecological aspects. Environmentally friendly production was the key condition put forward by local authorities during the designing and construction of the complex. The capacity of the plant will allow solving the problem of recycling of old batteries in Ukraine," Vilkul said.
