KIEV, Jan. 30 — Ukraine’s top energy and coal industry ministry officials will be on 24-hour duty for the next two weeks as a spell of extremely cold weather continues to drain the country’s energy resources.

Prime Minister Mykola Azarov ordered the officials to stay on alert through February 12 to “ensure uninterrupted power and heat energy supplies to consumers,” the government’s statement reported Monday.
