KIEV, Oct. 14 – Ukraine will have to attract labor migrants if its demographic recession continues, the International Migration Organization stated.
"If the demographic recession in Ukraine continues, it's probable that soon Ukraine will have to think about attracting migrants," Chief of Mission of the International Migration Organization in Ukraine Manfred Profazi said.
He added that every year Ukraine loses about the same number of people as the population of Sevastopol.
"The amount of money transferred by Ukrainians to their homes [$5.2 billion in 2010] is practically equal to investment of foreign states in Ukraine [$5.5 billion in 2010]. But these are official figures. I think unofficial figures are much higher," he said.
