KIEV, Oct. 6 – Lawmakers from the Regions Party faction Dmytro Sandler, Oleskiy Fedun and Ihor Zvarych, and a lawmaker from the Our Ukraine-People's Self-Defense faction, Roman Tkach, have proposed to introduce a 5% duty on imports of polyvinylchloride (PVC), reads a posting on the Web site of the Ukrainian parliament.

The report says that they registered the draft law in the parliament on October 4, 2011.

The authors of the document said that today the only PVC producer in Ukraine is Karpatnaftokhim LLC, which launched PVC production facilities with a production capacity of 300,000 tons per year in May 2011. Karpatnaftokhim is under control of Russia's LUKOIL oil company, and the vice president of the Russian company, Leonid Fedun is a cousin of Oleskiy Fedun.
