KIEV, Sept. 7 - Ukraine plans to sign natural gas and shale gas contracts with ExxonMobil, Eni, Halliburton and Chevron “within months” to boost domestic energy extraction, Energy Minister Yuriy Boyko said Wednesday.
The contracts will help Ukraine to boost domestic gas extraction to 25 billion cubic meters in 2014, up from 20 Bcm/year currently, Boyko said.
The plans show the government seeks to accelerate talks with foreign energy companies and to boost domestic energy output amid growing tensions with Russia, its main supplier of natural gas.
