KIEV, July 22 — Judge Rodion Kireyev on Friday refused to give former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko’s two new lawyers more time to prepare for a trial over her controversial 2009 natural gas agreement with Russia.
The lawyers, Mykola Siriy and Oleksandr Plakhotniuk, who joined Tymoshenko’s defense team just a week ago, say they need at least two months to read through the 16 volumes of the legal case.
But Kireyev scheduled the next court session on Monday.
