KIEV, June 14 – A ban on the issue of consumer credits to individuals in foreign currency, as foreseen in draft law No. 7351 on amendments to some Ukrainian laws on legal relations between creditors and financial service consumers, will be introduced for a certain period of time, said Viktor Novikov ,the director of the law department at the National Bank of Ukraine.

According to an article in the Dzerkalo Tyzhnia Ukraine weekly, the representative of the NBU said at a meeting of the financial press club devoted to the law on the rights of creditors and borrowers held by the League of Financial Development, with support of the USAID Financial Sector Development Project (FINREP) and Dzerkalo Tyzhnia, that the regulator is actively working on the launch of currency risk hedging instruments.
