KIEV, Feb. 28 - Ukraine has agreed to purchase an extra 1 billion cubic meters of natural gas from Russian gas giant Gazprom to compensate for unusually cold weather in February, the Energy and Coal Industry Ministry reported Monday.

The agreement comes following talks in Moscow on Monday between Yuriy Boyko, the energy and coal industry minister, and Gazprom, the ministry reported.
