KIEV, Jan. 12 – The recent introduction of duties on imported fuel in Ukraine would affect the country's market, considerably cutting imports of fuel and reducing the amount of taxes paid to the national budget, according to the Finance and Economy ministries.
The Finance Ministry said in a letter sent to the government, which has been forwarded to Interfax-Ukraine, that after the introduction of the duties the budget could receive up to UAH 13 billion less than it would without the duty.
The Economy Ministry said in its letter to the government that it is inappropriate to introduce the duties, as the amount of imports is no threat to domestic producers.
