KIEV, Nov. 3 - President Viktor Yanukovych on Wednesday nominated one of his closest allies, Viktor Pshonka, to the post of the Prosecutor General after dismissing Oleksandr Medvedko, according to presidential decrees.

The nomination, which needs to be approved by Parliament, shows that Yanukovych has been seeking to increase his personal control over the law enforcement agency.
