PARIS, Oct. 7 - Ukraine is prepared to consider ways to work with Russia in the field of natural gas, especially in extraction in Russia and delivery to Ukraine, the country's President Viktor Yanukovych said in an interview with the French paper le Figaro.
"We are most interested in being involved in extracting gas on Russian territory and moving that gas to Ukraine. Russia would like to gain access to managing Ukrainian gas pipelines. We're ready to discuss these questions with Moscow. It's quite likely that Russia and Ukraine will agree to modernize our gas pipelines together," the Ukrainian president said.
"Our job is with help from Ukraine to reestablish confidence between the gas supplier - Russia - and the buyers - Europe. We are doing all we can to carry out this task," Yanukovych said.
