KIEV, April 1 – Ukraine’s strategic goal is to join the European Union, not a union with Russia and Belarus, and that course cannot be changed, President Viktor Yanukovych said Thursday.

Yanukovych’s reaction comes four days after Deputy Prime Minister Volodymyr Semynozhenko has argued in favor of joining the Union State that Russia tries to create with Belarus for more than a decade.
