Tyhypko calls for ‘unpopular measures’ to restore Ukraine’s budget
Journal Staff Report

KIEV, Feb. 16 – Extraordinary and decisive measures are needed to save the country's budget, Strong Ukraine Party leader Sergiy Tyhypko said.

"Ukraine's state finance system has been brought to bankruptcy. And at present, active, effective and unpopular measures are needed to save the economy," the politician said, commenting on a report of the Accounting Chamber that only about UAH 2.5 billion was left at the single treasury account, while government's obligations for the budget total UAH 28.3 billion.

According to him, improper budget handling, as well as endless subsidies to National JSC Naftogaz Ukrayiny and the Pension Fund have caused a collapse of state finances.
