KIEV, Feb. 12 – Ukrtransnafta, Ukraine's oil transportation monopolist, suggests concluding a long-term agreement with KazTransOil on oil shipments with minimum amounts of transit supplies per year, Ukrainian Fuel and Energy Ministry spokesman Fant Di told Interfax-Ukraine.
He said an intergovernmental agreement signed by Ukraine and Kazakhstan in June 2004 on the supply of Kazakh oil and its transit shipment via Ukraine's territory foresees that "the oil is shipped on the basis of the forecast amounts of supplies and transit of Kazakh oil, approved by the sides' authorized agencies, as well as under long-term oil transportation agreements concluded between the sides' authorized operator organizations, which [under long-term agreements] determine annual supplies of Kazakh oil for shipment and transit with the use of Ukraine's oil pipelines, as well as shipment rates and other commercial conditions."
