KIEV, Feb. 9 – The elections to the agencies of local government, including Kiev city council and the Kiev mayor's office, must be held in Ukraine simultaneously on May 30, 2010, said Parliamentary Speaker Volodymyr Lytvyn .
"I again addressed the relevant committees, charging the agency [of Parliament] with giving a final explanation of a decision by the Constitutional Court. Thus, as I read and understand this decision, then it [the decision on holding elections to local councils] came into effect from the moment of its adoption… This means that when the elections start, it is required to gather 51 votes in Kiev city council, create an election commission and adopt a decision on the election of the city council and city head," he told journalists on Monday after a sitting of parliament's conciliatory council.
