Democracy will be threatened no matter who wins vote, says president

KIEV, Jan. 22 - Ukrainian values and democracy in the country will come under threat no matter who wins the presidential election runoff between Yulia Tymoshenko and Viktor Yanukovych on February 7, according to utgoing President Viktor Yushchenko has said.

"A new phase is coming, and its irony is that Ukrainians in fact do not have a true Ukrainian choice in free elections," Yushchenko said in a speech at the National Opera on Friday.
