SEVASTOPOL, Jan. 21 – The Command of Ukraine's Naval Forces has said it is ready to take part in the European Union's Atalanta Operation on fighting piracy.
Interfax-Ukraine learned this from the spokesman for Ukraine's Naval Forces.
In a statement on President Viktor Yuschenko's enacting a National Security and Defense Council decision on Ukraine's participation in the European Union's anti-piracy campaign, naval spokesman Volodymyr Bova, quoting the commander of the navy, Admiral Ihor Teniukh Teniukh said that Ukraine is ready to contribute a ship, a unit of special forces or marine corps, and if needed a helicopter or a naval aircraft.
