KIEV, Dec. 18 - The European Union’s Council of Ministers on Friday approved Ukraine’s joining of the European Energy Community, a step that would establish single regulations and allow the country to boost energy exports.

Ukraine has been seeking to join the European Energy Community following a standoff with Russia in January that had resulted in suspended Russian gas supplies to more than 20 European countries for almost two weeks.
