KIEV, Dec. 11 – Somali pirates have freed 24 Ukrainian sailors from the Ariana, President Viktor Yushchenko said.

"The Ukrainian sailors have been freed. I congratulate our 24 guys and their families on their victory," he told reporters in Kiev.

Yushchenko said that the sailors would be transported to the nearest port and then return home on a Ukrainian aircraft.
