KIEV, Dec. 7 – President Viktor Yushchenko has asked the Prosecutor General's Office and the Security Service to check the lawfulness of actions of the cabinet and the National Electricity Regulatory Commission in creating Naftogaz Merezhi, a daughter company of national JSC Naftogaz Ukrayiny.

Yushchenko said the decision to create Naftogaz Merezhi, to which the state-owned gas pipelines that are exploited by regional gas supply companies will be transferred, is unreasoned, and he said that the government and the NERC were not settling the problems of the regional gas supply companies.
