KIEV, Oct. 13 – The Ukrainian cabinet will agree to increase tariffs on gas for households in 2009, which would allow the International Monetary Fund to issue a $3.1 billion tranche under the Stand-By program, despite the non-fulfillment of most of the agreements that were reached earlier, according to a senior economist at the International Center of Policy Studies Ildar Hazizullin.
"Ukraine will get the money. Ukraine is a very important country in Central Europe. It's likely that the government will increase tariffs this year. It could be a symbolic rise, for example, by 10%," he said on Tuesday.
