KIEV, Sept. 8 – The success of the heating season in the winter 2009-2010 could be under threat, Kyivenergo Chairman Eduard Sokolovsky has said.
"Currently the issue of accumulating reserves of alternative kinds of fuel, such as fuel oil, is urgent," Sokolovsky said. He said that "today there are no such reserves, and the company is greatly affected by this."
According to Sokolovsky, to provide alternative sources of fuel to heat and power plants No. 5 and No. 6, which provide several residential districts in Kiev, 37,000 tons of fuel oil are needed if there is a 30% transfer to alternative sources of fuel, and 76,000 tons in the case of a 100% transfer to the use of alternative energy sources.
