KIEV, May 14 -- In May sales of new cars in Ukraine fell 8.1% in comparison with May 2004, when about 21,000 cars were sold, or 35% down in comparison with April 2005, Auto Consulting information and analytical group reported.
"The car market, which has been confidently growing over the past three years, has started falling," the group says, and notes that the car market had responded to the legislative changes - cancellation of car preferences and increase of duties from 15% to 20%.
