KIEV, Aug. 27 - Naftogaz Ukrayiny is in talks with foreign investors seeking to restructure $500 million in eurobond debts that come due on September 30, the national energy company said on Thursday.
This is the first time that Naftogaz has admitted the talks are underway, underscoring serious financial difficulties that the company has been facing this year.
“We are exploring ways of solving this issue that would satisfy all parties: investors and the company,” Oleh Dubyna, the head of Naftogaz, said in a statement. “We focus on a solution that would be accepted by the investors and encourage them for a dialog aimed at implementing the most effective restructuring.”
