KIEV, Aug. 18 – President Viktor Yushchenko said Tuesday that continued purchases of Treasury bills by the National Bank of Ukraine may undermine the stability of the hryvnia, the local currency.

The NBU purchased 36 billion hryvnias worth of T-bills since the beginning of the year, which essentially amounts to money printing, after the government’s budget revenue fell short of expectations.
