KIEV, July 13 – Ukravtodor, Ukraine’s state road service, has proposed increasing fuel excise rates and vehicle ownership taxes.
According to a draft law prepared by Ukravtodor amending certain laws of Ukraine on road sector activities, in particular, it is proposed to increase petrol excise rates by 64%, to EUR180 per ton from Jan. 1, 2010.
According to the document, diesel fuel with a sulphur content over 0.2% is to have an excise rate of EUR120 per ton, that with a sulphur content from 0.035% to 0.2% - EUR95 per ton, that with a sulphur content from 0.005% to 0.035% - EUR80 per ton, and that with a sulphur content less than 0.005% - EUR 55 per ton from January 1, 2010.
