KIEV, July 8 – The Emergency Situations Ministry has made a preliminarily assessment of the cost of the construction of the New Safe Confinement (NSC) at the Chornobyl nuclear power plant's Shelter facility of $1.6 billion.

Emergency Situations Minister Volodymyr Shandra announced the figure at a briefing on Tuesday.

He said participants in the Assembly of Contributors to the Chornobyl Shelter Fund and the Assembly of Donors to the Nuclear Safety Account in Kiev on Tuesday did not consider an increase in donor's fees for Chornobyl projects.
