KIEV, June 22 - Metal consumption in Ukraine fell 56.1% year-on-year in January-May to 1.79 million tons and imports plummeted 78% to 197,243 tons, Andriy Fedoseyev, president of the Ukrainian Metal Traders Association, told Interfax.
Fedoseyev said Ukrainian pipe mills bought 557,601 tons of locally produced and imported roll and feedstock, down 44.5% from January-May last year. Construction firms bought 28,718 tons, down 76.5%, rail producers - 35,512 tons, down 14.3%, and metalware producers - 135,439 tons, down 55.9%.
