KIEV, May 26 - Ukraine will soon sell 150 million of Assigned Amount Units (AAUs) to companies in Switzerland and New Zealand to raise cash to finance greenhouse gases emission reduction projects, according to a government order.
The order - approved May 20 and posted on the government’s website Monday - is the latest in Ukraine’s efforts to capitalize on the Kyoto Protocol.
The latest order may help Ukraine fetch some $1.5 billion through the selling of AAUs, analysts said. Ukraine last month sold 30 million AAUs to Japan for about $300 million, people familiar with the contracts said.
