KIEV, May 18 – The net inflow of foreign direct investment into Ukraine in the first quarter was estimated at $820 million, 24.4% of the amount of FDI registered in the first quarter of 2008, the State Statistics Committee reported.

Foreign investors injected $1.176 billion in direct investment into Ukraine January through March 2009, which was a mere 36.2% of the investments made in the same period last year. In particular, EU investors injected $684.1 million (58.2% of the overall amount); those from the CIS invested $297.4 million (25.3%), and investors from the rest of the world invested $194 million (16.5%).
