MOSCOW, March 30 - Russian President Dmitry Medvedev and German Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel will discuss a recent declaration between Ukraine and the European Union on the modernization of the Ukrainian gas transportation system at their meeting in Berlin on March 31, a Kremlin source told Interfax.
"This is not a subject of Russian-German bilateral relations, but it [Germany] is a major consumer of our natural gas, and the level of cooperation between the two countries in the fuel and energy sector and the area of gas supplies and transportation is exceptionally high. Therefore I suppose Medvedev and Merkel will surely exchange opinions on this issue," the source said.
