MOSCOW, March 27 – Russia's Vnesheconombank faced political opposition while performing a deal to buy a controlling stake in Prominvestbank (Kyiv), said Sergei Glazyev, the deputy secretary general of EurAsEC and co-chairman of the Russian-Ukrainian forum.
"We know that political obstacles were created: there were attempts to break the deal," he told journalists in Moscow on Friday.
According to Glazyev, if opposition to the deal had not been overcome, the numerous depositors of the Ukrainian bank could have suffered.
