KIEV, Feb. 27 – President Viktor Yushchenko has thanked the World Bank President Robert Zoellick for the Bank's support of the Ukrainian president's initiative calling on all branches of power to join efforts in order to resume cooperation with the International Monetary Fund.
Yushchenko said this in a letter to the World Banks' president, the Ukrainian president's press service reported on Friday.
The head of state noted that recognizing that the priority task for the Ukrainian authorities is to establish control and prevent the ruining of the economy, he initiated a meeting with the premier, the National Bank's governor, the Verkhovna Rada chairman and a representative of the oppositional Party of Regions. The participants in the meeting were to hammer out the national plan for stabilizing the economy.
