KIEV, Feb. 27 – Ukraine's long-term prospects depend on the development of Germany's partnership and strategic relations with Russia, German Chancellor Angela Merkel was quoted as telling foreign journalists in Berlin.

Merkel said that owing to its geographical position, Ukraine is obliged to stay between the European Union and Russia in all senses of the phrase Deutsche Welle reported.
