KIEV, Feb. 23 – The official registered unemployment rate in Ukraine was 3.2% of the working-age population in January, the State Statistics Committee reported.
Unemployment in December was 3%, in November 2.3% and in October 1.9%. Earlier, for three months unemployment remained at the level of 1.8%. In June 2008 the unemployment level was 1.9%, May 2.0%, April 2.2%, March 2.3%, and in January-February 2.4%.
By the end of January, 900,600 unemployed people (December 844,900) were registered, of which 670,900 people received unemployment benefits (in December it was 652,100). The average amount of unemployment benefits was UAH 604.42 a month (earlier it was UAH 571.07).
