KIEV, Feb. 12 – The use of all alternative energy sources will help Ukraine save up to 10 billion cubic meters of natural gas, Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko said.
"If we use the whole potential of renewable [energy] resources, we will then be able to replace up to 10 billion cubic meters of gas a year," she said at a council on the development of alternative energy sources in Kiev on Thursday.
Tymoshenko said that "purposeful work" is needed to achieve this goal.
She said that Ukraine has 29,965 boiler houses, with 64.3% of them using natural gas. Moreover, heat and power plants consume up to 5.9 billion cubic meters of gas, she added.
