KIEV, Feb. 11 – The need for additional capitalization at the largest Ukrainian banks, as determined after a diagnostic study, was less than forecast, according to Oleksandr Kireyev, the director for banking regulation and surveillance at the National Bank of Ukraine.
"The results of the diagnostic study of the first group banks are more optimistic than the forecasts made three months ago. Two state banks (Oschadbank and Ukreximbank) of the 17 largest banks have boosted their capitalization. An investor is settling the problems at Prominvestbank. UAH 22 billion are required for the capitalization of the rest of the banks," he told Interfax-Ukraine on Tuesday.
