Most of Ukraine’s mines reduce iron ore production in January

KIEV, Feb. 3 – Amid slackening demand, most Ukrainian mines reduced iron ore production in January.

Poltava Mining, the core asset of Ferrexpo plc, said it cut commercial pellet production tentatively 31.9% year-on-year to 514,000 tons. Iron ore concentrate production fell 30.5% to 613,000 tons. PGOK exports most of its pellets.

Northern (Pivnichny) Mining and Beneficiation Plant, from Kryvy Rih, told Interfax that it reduced commercial pellet production 32.3% year-on-year in January to 586,000 tons. Iron ore concentrate output fell 15.7% to 976,000 tons.
