KIEV, Jan. 19 - President Viktor Yushchenko told British Prime Minister Gordon Brown on Monday that Russian natural gas supplies to the European Union may be resumed in the near future.

Yushchenko and Brown spoke by phone as Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko had left for Moscow to participate in the signing of an agreement between Ukraine and Russia that may resume the supplies.
