KIEV, Dec. 26 – Parliament has voted to the excise duty on cars as much as tenfold, depending on the engine capacity, and to revise a tax on passenger car owners.
A total of 236 MPs supported the law on Dec. 25.
According to the document, the excise rate on new cars (including cargo-and-passenger cars) with the up to 1.5-liter engine will be increased 1.5 times, from EUR 0.02 to EUR 0.03 per cubic centimeter. (the government proposed to boost them by 2.5 times), with 1.5-2.2 liter engines four times, to EUR 0.12 per cubic centimeter (five times), with 2.2-3-liter engine two times (ten times), to EUR 0.12 per cubic centimeter and with more than 3-liter engine ten times to EUR 1 per cubic centimeter, as it was suggested.
