KIEV, Sept. 12 – There are all good reasons to prolong the 25% car import duty until late 2008, Industry Minister Volodymyr Novitsky said.
"Everything will depend on how the Verkhovna Rada votes [whether the parliament overrides the veto of the president on the law that prolongs this duty], but I as the head of the industrial sector, think that there are grounds for its prolongation," he told the press at the Stolychne Auto Show, which opened in Kiev on Friday.
The minister said that international agreement would not be violated in this case, as the 2008 national budget was formed taking into account the 25% duty.
