KIEV, July 30 - Flood waters that killed 30 people in western regions of Ukraine on Sunday and Monday have finally started to recede, emergency ministry officials said on Wednesday.
Water levels on the Prut, Dniestr and Seret rivers have decreased by one-to-two meters, the officials said.
President Viktor Yushchenko has declared a three-month state of emergency in the regions to deal with the crisis. Parliament is supposed to approve the measures at an emergency session on Thursday.
